Weekly Principal's Address Monday, November 1

Please keep reminding your students on the importance of getting to class on time.  Thank you to those teachers who have been standing at their doors helping students into their classes as it really reflects on the importance and value of learning time.

It was great seeing the students receive their ice-cream this past Friday as part of their GLO recognition.  While this may be a small way of recognizing them for their good work...taking  time to acknowledge them for their positive efforts certainly goes a long way in helping to build their confidence and self-esteem!   "We Care for  and We Prepare ALL Students  for Careers, College, and Citizenship in the 21 st  Century”

State Board of Education Meeting:     Reminder that the State BOE mtg will be held at our school cafeteria this Thursday, Nov. 4th. @3:30 p.m.   Anticipate having State Department of Education administrators and Board members to be visiting our campus and classrooms.

Academic/Financial Plans:   Departments heads are asked to meet with their departments to review and facilitate discussions as to the progress per our school's Academic/Financial plan goals.   We are about mid-w ay for the second quarter and this would be another good time to assess our status.   Please e-mail your discussion minutes to Beth, Diane, Todd and myself.

Program Reviews:   To ensure that we are providing students with effective learning opportunities on a consistent basis, we are meeting with various staff to discuss, revisit and strategically revise as needed.   Currently we are discussing:
1) Co-Teaching:     Assessment of our inclusion programs where both general and special education teachers are teaching as partners;  as co-teaching provides students that level of equity in terms of access, need to en sure that are having on-going discussion and reviews as to how we can improve;  and
2) Honors Application:     We are currently reviewing the application process for students interested in taking an honors course;  goal is to help provide more students with that opportunity to take honors courses while clearly knowing the expectations;

Principal's Forum News/Update:   By now you should have received the electronic copies of the "Principal's Forum News/Updates" targeted toward informing parents, guardians and community.  Communication remains critical for any organization and ask that you help in sharing about this site.  Want to especially recognize Margaret Goode for her good work!

That's it and don't forget to vote on Tuesday if you haven't yet done so.   Have a great w eek!
